Last month, Callie and Matt were married in New Orleans! When Callie first started talking to me about shooting her wedding – make that, wedding weekend experience extraordinaire! – I got very excited!
I’ve known Callie since we attended Trinity University in San Antonio for undergrad- we were both involved in the theater department. These days, Callie is an event planner and puts together an AMAZING wedding- I have been fortunate to shoot many of her weddings. She is super organized and has amazing taste and creativity. So I knew she and Matt’s plans would be unique, personal, and memorable.
Things got started Thursday evening with “Bachelor/Bachelorette” events. Matt’s crew gathered for a crawfish boil and Callie’s group met up in the French Quarter for a Historic Tour of some Haunted spots in New Orleans (complete with stops at some Historic Haunted Bars, of course.)
After the tour, the group wandered through the French Quarter ending the night at the Hotel Monteleone’s Carousel Bar.
Friday- rehearsal day- things got started at the Hilton’s restaurant Luke with a happy hour featuring French 77’s and raw oysters. Later, the rehearsal dinner took place at the non-profit Cafe Reconcile. Callie and Matt worked with the organization so that their rehearsal dinner could be an event that benefited others. Cafe Reconcile prepares and places young adults in careers in the food and hotel industry. Dinner guests enjoyed delicious traditional cajun dishes as well as music from the Red Wolf brass band and a bagpipe performance performed by a friend (and one of my past grooms, Peter! I shot he and Jill’s wedding in 2012.)
After the rehearsal dinner, the partygoers moved things over to a bar called the Dragon’s Den for some live music and late night cocktails.
Wedding day! Callie got ready and met her groom and wedding party at the Hilton. I am so in love with Callie’s coppery sequined wedding gown- she could not have picked a more perfect dress for herself. We took advantage of the hotel’s gorgeous lobby and got some great photos of the wedding party. From there we traveled to the restaurant Calcasieu for ceremony, dinner, drinks, and dancing! As guests arrived, they enjoyed cocktails while listening to live music played by the Ibervillainaires.
